Self-Determination Program Coordinator - Client & Family Services (Bilingual Spanish/English Req.)

Salary Range

$5,017 to $7,367

Summary

Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Client and Family Services, the Self-Determination Program Coordinator coordinates the Center’s Self-Determination Program (SDP). Incumbent will provide training and consultation to service coordination staff so they are prepared to handle the requirements of SDP and are equipped to assist families and individuals with the transition to SDP. Incumbent also provides direct support to the Center’s Self-Determination Advisory Community and SDP support group.

Education & Experience

To perform effectively in this position, the candidate will be required to have a working knowledge of the Self-Determination Program as well as developmental disabilities and must demonstrate a strong knowledge of current values and practices in the field of developmental disabilities. The incumbent will possess the ability to establish and maintain collaborate working relationships with persons served, families, a team of professionals, and a diverse public as well as the ability to lead and motivate others and work cooperatively with service providers and regional center staff.

In addition, candidate will possess the ability to communicate effectively; both orally and in writing, prepare clear, accurate and concise reports, including the analysis and interpretation of statistical data and recommendations, possess strong public-speaking skills, manage multiple projects, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Must have strong computer skills including but not limited to MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint and be able to work after hours and some weekends.

Must have a bachelor’s degree in social, behavioral or life science or special education, and 3 to 5 years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities. A master’s degree may be substituted for one year of required experience. Experience with Foster Home Agencies is preferred.
 
Substantial equivalents may be substituted for the above requirements.
 
Valid California driver’s license, current automobile insurance and adequate transportation to fulfill position responsibility are also required.

Bilingual Spanish/English required.
