California law and regulation requires that regional centers display on their Web sites information about the dollar value of services they purchase for clients. These data (called "purchase of service" or "POS" data) must be reported separately by clients' ethnic/racial group, langauge and diagnosis.
Service Provider Workshop on Use of Visual Supports with Adult Clients
Lanterman presents a free service provider workshop on Use of Visual Supports with Adult Clients on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- A two-hour online interactive training module for supported employment, pre-vocational and day program service providers.
- Led by Lanterman CAPTAIN Cadre Members
- Activities include pre-test, training and post-test
- Covers use of visual schedules, visual boundaries and visual cues to increase desired behavior and decrease problem behavior in a variety of settings
- CAPTAIN Cadre Member(s) conduct a post-workshop follow-up site visit and/or survey
- Certificate of completion
Visual Supports can be used to:
- Increase learner independence
- Support transitions between activities
- Provide predictability, structure and clarify expectations
When use correctly, Visual Supports can:
- Reduce challenging behaviors
- Reduce reliance on verbal instructions, prompting
- Reduce distractions, increase focus
