This training is designed for owners, administrators, finance staff and other non-technical leaders of vendored service providers. Vendorization requires all service providers to comply with HIPAA and other regulations to ensure the protection of regional center client’s personal information. This training will give you the basic information you need to know to protect personal information, whether paper or electronic, how to evaluate third party technology options, and how to report breaches. You will also learn some of the challenges that social media brings to this conversation. Finally, you will learn about insurance options that may help protect your business.
Stacie DePeau is responsible for all aspects of information technology, including cybersecurity and HIPAA compliance for an agency that has approximately 3,000 employees in over 70 locations.
Jeannie DeLaura is an insurance broker and has helped many service providers find insurance coverage for their businesses.
Following the presentations there will be a vendor fair featuring the companies that provide insurance to Lanterman Regional Center service providers.

Parking: Available in the parking structure behind Lanterman on Berendo Avenue. Parking tickets will not be validated. Parking fees are $6.50 prior to 10 a.m. entry, otherwise the rate is $2 for every 15 minutes with a maximum rate of $16 for all day parking. There is metered parking on the street. Watch street signs. Lanterman is 2 blocks west of the Metro Red Line Wilshire/Vermont Station.
California law and regulation requires that regional centers display on their Web sites information about the dollar value of services they purchase for clients. These data (called "purchase of service" or "POS" data) must be reported separately by clients' ethnic/racial group, langauge and diagnosis.

Regional centers must post information regarding how providers are doing with ensuring individuals served are part of their communities (Welfare and Institutions Code section 4519.2(b)). This information is to be updated at least every six months until DDS has determined that statewide compliance has been met.
