A Glimpse into the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community
Lanterman and Southern California Resource Service for Independent Living present a free three-day webinar series of informative and practical information for engaging with the deaf and hard of hearing communities for our service providers called "A Glimpse into the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community."
Day 1 - Friday, March 4, 2022, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- What it means to be deaf and hard of hearing
- Facial grammar/expression, alphabet, numbers, and rules for asking questions
- Group activity: speaking with your face practice
Day 2 - Friday, March 11, 2022, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Cultural etiquette and supporting individual rights
- Group activity - practice introductions and role play
- Signs for daily phrases, sentences structure, health and emergencies
- Group activity - communication practice
Day 3 - Friday, March 18, 2022, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Assistive technologies and supporting communication in the home and in the community
- Group activity - practice utilizing assistive technology
- Using specialized phrases, day one and two reviews, signing practice
