Association of Regional Center Agencies
California’s regional centers are an interdependent network of 21 community-based organizations. For over 400,000 Californians with developmental disabilities, community life is made possible by their regional center. They are guided by locally-based independent boards of directors that are responsible for oversight and guidance of how their center brings the promise of the Lanterman Act to life. Centers collaboratively work on shared opportunities, challenges, and needs through the Association of Regional Center Agencies (ARCA).
Department of Developmental Services
Vision
People with intellectual and developmental disabilities experience respect for their culture and language preferences, their choices, beliefs, values, needs, and goals, from a person-centered service system made up of a network of community agencies that provide high quality, outcome-based and equitable services.
Protection and Advocacy
Disability Rights California (DRC) is the agency designated under federal law to protect and advocate for the rights of Californians with disabilities.
We work in litigation, legal representation, advocacy services, investigations, public policy, and provide information, advice, referral, and community outreach.
For more than 40 years, drc has worked to advance the rights of Californians with disabilities in education, employment, independence, health, and safety, and has grown into the largest disability rights organization in the nation.
State Council on Developmental Disabilities
The State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) is established by state and federal law as an independent state agency to ensure that people with developmental disabilities and their families receive the services and supports they need.
Consumers know best what supports and services they need to live independently and to actively participate in their communities. Through advocacy, capacity building and systemic change, SCDD works to achieve a consumer and family-based system of individualized services, supports, and other assistance.
Early Start Info Packet
The Department of Developmental Services has released its new Information Packet for Consumers and Families on Early Start Services. This packet focuses on children ages 0-3.

Guide to California’s Regional Center System
The Department of Developmental Services has released a new Information Packet with information about the Lanterman Services Act. It’s for individuals, parents and caregivers of children or adults over 3 years old who may have or are at risk of having developmental delays or disabilities. This packet is also for people who want to learn more about the regional center system, resources, rights and how to qualify for services.
