For more than two decades, ornaments created by persons with developmental disabilities have been used to decorate the State Capitol Tree, and the Department of Developmental Services has put out the request for ornaments for 2025’s tree.
To be included on the tree, DDS must receive all ornaments by Thursday, November 13, 2025.
The tree lighting ceremony will take place the first week of December. This year, as in previous years, a child with a developmental disability will participate in the evening ceremony with Governor Gavin Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom.
