KYRC Overview
The Koch-Young Resource Center provides information, education and support for people with developmental disabilities, families with children who have special needs, Lanterman staff, professionals and the general community. The Resource Center offers a number of services, including:
- A HelpLine, which links people to community resources related to developmental disabilities, provides information and referral, and does tailored research for unique needs;
- A multimedia multilingual library collection of approximately 8,000 disability-related materials that is searchable online at library.lanterman.org;
- Providing assistance to the Center’s varying support groups;
- Coordinating Lanterman’s Peer Support Partner Program that is a one-on-one family support program that matches individuals with trained and experienced family members in a variety of areas of interest (join by filling out our Peer Support Partner Match Questionnaire);
- Offering education and training opportunities; and
- Creating individualized disability-specific information packets.
Staff in the Resource Center are also responsible for:
- Maintaining this Web site and the Network of Care.
- Publishing the Center’s public relations materials, such as brochures and informational booklets.
In addition to the library and the Help Desk, the Resource Center also:
- Oversees the Assistive Technology Project that provides services by way of contract with the Assistive Technology Exchange Center of Goodwill Industries of Orange County.

Location: 611 North Brand, Glendale (right off of the 134 freeway)
Hours: Operating hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Security: Upon arrival, please check in with security and they will let you up to the KYRC on the second floor.
Parking: The Center does not reimburse KYRC visitors for parking. There is metered street parking behind the building and paid parking in the structure that can be accessed on Doran, just south of the 134.
Koch-Young Resource Center Library
Search Online and In-Person
Resources including, books, video and audio tapes, periodicals, etc., can be searched online at library.lanterman.org or in-person at the Center.
Staff is available to assist with questions, recommendations and searching for resources. The library also provides the opportunity to conduct independent study on a variety of subjects. Resource materials can be checked out or used on-site in a reading/viewing room.
Community Drop-off and Pick-up
If you are unable to come down to the Center for your materials, we can make special arrangements to deliver and pick-up materials through our staff and community drop-off/pick-up locations.
Collection Development Policy, Loan Agreements and Resource Consideration Request Forms
View the Koch-Young Resource Center’s Collection Development Policy (this policy guides how the Library operates, including partnerships, acquisition procedures, collection maintenance, library loans, donations, etc.) Following are the forms and documents mentioned in the collection development policy:
- Download the general library loan agreement in English or Spanish (library patrons must submit this agreement with the borrower’s responsibility and liability and the release of liability statements signed in order to borrow items from the library’s general collection.
- Download the assistive technology loan agreement (in order to borrow any items from the library’s assistive technology collection, patrons must submit this agreement with the borrower’s responsibility and liability and the release of liability statements signed.)
- Download the form to request consideration of a library resource (use this form to request the library to consider adding a certain resource to our collection)
