    Free Vital Records for those impacted by the Los Angeles fires
    • Fees for certified copies of birth, death, and marriage records are suspended for any individual who lost such records as a result of the Los Angeles county fires: “Palisades Fire,” “Eaton Fire,” “Hurst Fire,” Lidia Fire,” or “Woodley Fire.” The current processing time for a wildfire request is 1-2 business days.

If you can’t work:
You may not be able to work for many reasons. Here’s how to receive wage replacement during this time. You may qualify for unemployment, disability, or Paid Family Leave benefits.

  • FEMA: Homeowners affecting the ongoing Palisades, Eaton, Kenneth, or other SoCal wildfires are encouraged to apply for FEMA as soon as possible. Applications are submitted online, through the FEMA app, or by phone call at 800-621-362.

FEMA officials will be present at the following Los Angeles County libraries between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday, 1/12/25, and Monday, 1/13/25, to assist residents impacted by the wildfires:

  • California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara will host a pair of insurance workshops in Santa Monica and Pasadena over the following weeks to aid people in Los Angeles County in the rebuilding process. Lara will be joined by other CDI personnel for one-on-one consultations. Homeowners in need are encouraged to call 800-927-4357 to reserve an appointment with a consultant.

    Commissioner RicardoLara will host a two-day insurance support workshop for Los Angeles residents affected by recent wildfires. These workshops aim to help survivors understand their policies & next steps.

    • You may be eligible for tax relief if your property is damaged or destroyed by a calamity, such as fire or flooding. To qualify, you must file an Application for Reassessment: Property Damaged or Destroyed by Misfortune or Calamity (M&C) Form ADS-820 with the Assessor’s Office within 12 months from the date the property was damaged or destroyed.   1. FEMA Transitional Sheltering Assistance Available for Los Angeles County Residents

    • Renters and homeowners who have already applied for disaster assistance may be eligible to stay temporarily in a hotel or motel paid for by FEMA through the Transitional Sheltering Assistance (TSA) Program. This program is offered to enable displaced residents to work on their interim housing plan
    • Affected residents do not need to request this assistance. FEMA will notify them of their eligibility through an automated phone call, text message, and/or email depending on the method of communication selected at the time of application for disaster assistance.
    • TSA is a temporary program intended to provide short-term lodging for eligible disaster survivors whose primary residence is uninhabitable or inaccessible because of the disaster and are not covered by insurance additional living expenses or loss of use. Eligible applicants sign a terms and conditions document confirming their eligibility end date when they check into a participating hotel.
    • Under the TSA program, FEMA pays the cost of room, taxes, and non-refundable pet fees directly to participating hotels and motels. Survivors are responsible for all other costs, including laundry, restaurant/room service, parking, telephone, or movie rental.
    • Continued eligibility is determined on an individual basis. When eligibility ends, survivors will be notified by FEMA seven days prior to checkout date. TSA is limited to participating hotels and motels. Applicants must refer to the TSA Locator to find a hotel, which will be visible to them when they go to DisasterAssistance.gov.
    • FEMA is offering other forms of housing assistance such as Displacement Assistance, Rental Assistance, and/or Lodging Expense Reimbursement.

    • Hearing Aids
      Dr. Amit Gosalia is working to replace hearing aids and chargers for victims of the SoCal wildfires. If you have a hearing aid from Starkey Hearing, Signia Hearing, Oticon, or Cochlear Corp, you can reach out for a replacement.Dr. Gosalia said you do not need to visit his office, and he will work with any Los Angeles doctor to assist.       The Food Pantry is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am to 3pm, and Thursdays from 10am to 1pm. Our pantry community can visit any of the three open days, but they are only allowed to come one time per week for food.

      To get registered, we require that identification be brought for each person to be registered in a family, some form of documentation with current address, and proof of low-income status. If a person does not have one, or more, of these requirements, that should not stop them from coming to get food. We will meet with each person and make sure they can get food that day.

  5. LA County Parks is establishing 4 Care Camps that will provide youth and teens with a supportive space for fun and recreation including music, arts and crafts, sports activities and field trips to the LA County Natural History Museum, La Brea Tar Pits, Dodger Stadium, & more. Breakfast, snacks, and lunch will be provided daily; teens will also get supper. See their video on the camps here.

    These camps are for those under mandatory evacuation or significantly impacted by the fires. They are completely free and will last Monday to Friday from January 13 to January 31, 2025. The hours are as follows:

Lyft and Uber

  • Lyft is offering two rides up to $25 each ($50 total) for Los Angeles residents impacted by wildfires. Use code CAFIRERELIEF25 now through Jan. 15 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Lyft is offering two free rides worth up to $25 to 500 riders using the code CAFIRERELIEF25. The code is valid for up to 500 riders, and is being offered as part of the Lyft Up Disaster Response program.
  • Uber is offering rides worth up to $40 for free to those who use the code WILDFIRE25

Edison Disability Disaster Access and Resources Program

  1. Now through Wednesday, Jan. 15, T-Mobile is offering unlimited talk, text and data for T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile and Assurance Wireless customers who do not have these services as part of their current plan.

    These services are being made available to customers in Altadena, La Cañada Flintridge, Los Angeles, Palisades, Pasadena and Sierra Madre.

  2. AT&T: The telecommunications company announced it is offering wildfire areas unlimited data, talk and text through Feb. 6. Visit their official site for a list of valid zip codes.

  3. Verizon: Verizon announced it will waive call, text and data charges for customers in hardest hit areas. The company also deployed free Wifi and charging stations at three wildfire shelters

  • Vetster: The veterinary telehealth platform Vetster said it will be offering free telehealth appointments to pets impacted by the fires. Pet owners can visit vetster.com/support to get a free appointment. Offer will be available for up to 500 pet owners until Jan. 23.
  • Bath N’ Buns Mobile Pet Grooming: The locally-owned pet grooming service announced it will offer complimentary bath services for cats and dogs affected by the fires.

  • Best Friend’s Animal Society has activated two pet pantry locations in Los Angeles that can provide essential supplies including pet food, cat litter, pet beds and other necessary items as well as human sanitary products for those who have lost everything.
