Crisis Intervention and Prevention Update (This is NOT a CPI Training)
This training provides practical information on how to define a crisis, assess for imminent danger, interact with someone in crisis, de-escalate a crisis situation and prevent new ones. This course is designed to train parents and Direct Support Professionals in basic crisis intervention and prevention techniques. These techniques would include: safety issues, setting boundaries, re-direct, dropping demands, reflective listening, anger management, conflict resolution, returning to and establish routine, and utilizing community resources. Throughout the course, the instructors will assist the audience with crisis vignettes and discussion concerning real life crisis situations.

Due to security reasons, access to the building requires that all visitors carry a picture ID.
Parking: Available in the parking structure behind Lanterman on Berendo Avenue. Parking tickets will not be validated. Parking fees are $6.50 prior to 10 a.m. entry, otherwise the rate is $2 for every 15 minutes with a maximum rate of $16 for all day parking. There is metered parking on the street. Watch street signs. Lanterman is 2 blocks west of the Metro Red Line Wilshire/Vermont Station.
