Bike Fitting Day with Red Star Riders on Oct. 12

Red Star Riders, a chapter of National Ambucs, Inc, which is the organization that makes and sells the Amtryke bicycles. Amtrykes are adaptive bicycles that are customized to allow individuals with disabilities to ride a bicycle. Red Star Riders is the local Los Angeles Chapter that is dedicated to providing children with disabilities an adaptive bicycle so that they may participate in bike riding with their families. Our group consists of physical therapists and community members. The physical therapists are trained in fitting and assessing children on the bicycles to determine the best bicycle for each child. The group also fundraises throughout the year to assist families in obtaining the bicycles for their child. They are a recognized non-profit organization, so all donations are tax deductible. The chapter is 2 years old. In the last 2 years, they have assisted over 30 families in obtaining an Amtryke bicycle for their child.

On Saturday, October 12, Red Star Riders will be hosting their second bike-fitting day. This day will focus on fitting and trialing children on their fleet of Amtryke bicycles. Once fitted, children can be placed on their wish list to obtain the bicycles. The day will also include games for families, obstacle courses for bike riding, a bake sale and a raffle. They encourage families to come meet them and be assessed for an Amtryke bicycle. Please feel free to print this flyer and post it in your facility or pass out to appropriate families. They do ask that families contact Red Star Riders via e-mail or phone to RSVP for that day. They would also like to encourage therapists to come meet them and check out the Amtrykes if you are not familiar to them. They are a great resource for families for both therapeutic exercise and recreational participation.
