Highlight 47: Licensed and Affordable Housing

Graphic titled "Adult Living Options - Licensed Residential Options & Affordable Housing": photos of residential buildings and residents.

As part of our 60 Highlights for 60 Years series, we continue spotlighting housing supports available to adults served by Lanterman Regional Center.

While the goal of all our living options is always to support the highest level of independence possible, some individuals need more support than independent or supported living services provide. In these cases, service coordinators can refer individuals and families to licensed residential options that provide varying levels of support while encouraging independent access to community resources.

Licensed residential options include Community Care Facilities, Intermediate Care Facilities, or Specialized Residential Facilities — which offer care, supervision and support while encouraging community access.

Lanterman also partners with housing developers to help secure units for individuals with developmental disabilities, including:

  • Bryson Legacy (near MacArthur Park): 15 one-bedroom units
  • Lexington Gardens (West Hollywood): 12 studio set-aside units
  • HOPE Apartments (Pasadena area): 9 units total
  • Adams Condominium (Glendale): 1 unit
