Network Administrator - IT Unit

Salary Range

$5,059 to $7,652


Under the direction of the Information Technology Manager, the Network Administrator is responsible for organizing, modifying, installing, and supporting the company's computer systems. Installs, and manages Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), Internet and intranet systems, and network segments. Assists IT staff in general business programming, database maintenance, and end-user support. Provides project objective support to Project Leads as needed. Assists the Information Technology Manager with all aspects of the Regional Center computer systems operations.

Education & Experience

To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent will have strong aptitude in managing and troubleshooting network issues within a virtual or physical environment. Will have a strong understanding of how servers, switches, routers, and firewalls function to form a network system. Must possess the ability to communicate and coordinate installations and problem resolutions with vendors and IT staff. Will also possess a strong comprehension of computer logic in order to perform task listed under principal duties, and responsibilities as well as knowledge of methodology to run virtual and physical computer systems and to troubleshoot computer equipment malfunctions. Must possess strong interpersonal skills necessary to train others in computer systems and must effectively communicate problems with supervisor as they become known.

The ideal candidate will be required to have an associate’s degree in an information technology related field; a bachelor’s degree in an information technology related field is preferred but not required. In addition, certification in Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE), A+ Network Certification, Cisco or Juniper Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is highly desirable. A minimum of five (5) years of current experience as an Administrator on a medium sized network of virtual and physical servers, switches, routers, PC systems and communications devices using current technologies.

Valid California driver’s license, current automobile insurance and adequate transportation to fulfill position responsibility is also required.
