May 17: Building Speech Skills ~ Strategies for Parents to Improve Their Child’s Speech & LanguageLanterman's Koch-Young Resource Center and Pasadena Child Development Associates present a a two-hour workshop for parents to learn how to promote their child’s speech skills on Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lanterman. Gain ideas you can incorporate in daily life and playtime with your child who is between the ages of birth to 5. Learn how to build off of your child’s interests and your family’s regular routine to motivate and support your child in finding his or her voice. May 29: SCAT ~ Navigating the Special Needs System ~ English Course This four-session course provides an overview of the regional center system, developing a partnership with your regional center, Lanterman values in action, and advocacy and the legislative process. June 5 ~ Parents and Play: Learn Strategies for Making Play Fun and Meaningful As a parent, you are your child’s first playmate and teacher. This is not always an easy job, particularly for parents of children with special needs. June 21 ~ Funding Sources for Assistive Technology Webinar The second workshop in the 2012 Assistive Technology Workshop Series hosted by Lanterman Regional Center and ATEC will address the topic of funding sources for assistive technology. The one-hour workshop is scheduled for Thursday, June 21, 2012, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., and will provide people with disabilities, families, caregivers, professionals, and those interested in AT greater knowledge and resources.
