Parents and Play: Learn Strategies for Making Play Fun and Meaningful on February 21

As a parent, you are your child’s first playmate and teacher. This is not always an easy job, particularly for parents of children with special needs.

Come attend a one-hour workshop on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lanterman to fine tune your play skills and get some new ideas on how to work with your child to build his/her skills. Learn strategies to keep play fun and engaging for you and your child.

SCAT - Navigating the Special Needs System - English Course Starts February 28

This four-session course provides an overview of the regional center system, developing a partnership with your regional center, Lanterman values in action, and advocacy and the legislative process.

The next course runs on Tuesdays, from February 28 to March 20, 2012 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at BCR in Burbank.

Come Read “Potter the Otter” During KYRC Storytime on March 1

Join the Koch-Young Resource Center for storytime on Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. for a reading of "Potter the Otter: A Tale About Water." Sponsored by First5LA, this storytime will be a bilingual adventure for parents and children about Potter the otter and water. Potter says, "I love to drink water and want you to love to drink water too!" You can also learn more about Potter on his Web site at www.potterloveswater.com.

March 13 to April 17: Toilet Training Workshop Series - English and Spanish

This six-session series being held in both English and Spanish on toilet training enables parents to learn a systematic approach to toilet training, identifying readiness, developing a specific task analysis for their child, and utilizing principles of behavior modification to increase toileting behavior and motivation.
