IEP Boot Camp: Shape Up Your Special Education Know-How
Summer is here and it’s a great time to plan for next year. Join the Lanterman Law Clinic during the month of July to learn more about special education and how to help your child succeed. Topics will be presented in English and Spanish and include:
- The basics of IEPs
- Legal protections for you and your child
- What services and placement are available through the School District
- What happens after high school
- How to have less stressful IEP meeting
Participants are encouraged to attend all four sessions. The same presentations will be given twice, once in English only, and once with Spanish translation.
Week 1: Special Education 101
English: July 8, 2016 from 3 to 5 p.m.
Spanish: July 12, 2016 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Week 2: Services
English: July 15, 2016 from 3 to 5 p.m.
Spanish: July 19, 2016 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Week 3: Placement and Adult Transition
English: July 22, 2016 from 3 to 5 p.m.
Spanish: July 26, 2016 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Week 4: Advocacy and Dispute Resolution
English: July 29, 2016 from 3 to 5 p.m.
Spanish: August 2, 2016 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Parking: Available in the parking structure behind Lanterman on Berendo Avenue. Parking tickets will not be validated. Parking fees are $5 prior to 10 a.m. entry, otherwise they will range from $10 to $13. There is metered parking on the street. Watch street signs. Lanterman is 2 blocks west of the Metro Red Line Wilshire/Vermont Station.
