The Los Angeles Public Library presents Full Steam Ahead: Fun with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.

Space is limited. Attend one or both of the upcoming sessions being held for Lanterman clients between the ages of 8 to 14.  

Squishy Circuits
Tuesday, July 25, 2017, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Use special dough to create electrical circuits to make LED bulbs light up and discover how some materials conduct electricity!

Makey-Makey
Tuesday, August 1, 2017, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Learn about circuits and electricity as you use everyday objects, like bananas, instead of a keyboard to use the computer!

Lanterman presents Music and Movement, which brings together families in sharing songs, instrument play, rhythm chants and movement activities in a relaxed, playful, non-performance-oriented setting. Music is learned through developmentally appropriate activities that support and respect the unique learning styles of very young children from 2 to 4 years of age. Infants, toddlers and preschoolers participate at their own levels in family-style classes of mixed ages.

Planning for a Disaster: What Providers Need to Know

10am–12pm

This training is designed to provide day, work and residential service providers with core elements of emergency planning for a major disaster. The training will include developing emergency procedures and determining what supplies are needed. Other topics will include sheltering in place and evacuating your facility. The trainer will also cover how to conduct a hazard analysis. This is the August 2017 in-service.

This presentation by Tom Pomeranz will provide parents and providers with new sensitivities and insights as to what factors undermine person-centered relationships on both sides. Tom details the core beliefs that are the foundation in successfully working with clients and their families. The session discusses potential family and provider barriers that may impair these relationships and strategies to overcome the barriers. The presentation is scheduled for August 11, 2017.
